What is the Software Developer's Kit?

The Pastel Software Developer's Kit (SDK) allows developers to easily and seamlessly develop additional modules, front-ends and specialist imports and exports for Pastel Accounting.

Using the SDK, a developer can for example, create a specialised invoicing screen for a particular vertical market, and simply send the information to the SDK. The SDK will perform all the validations as if it was a normal Pastel invoice, and update all the relevant Pastel files. Using the SDK therefore ensures that the integrity of the data is maintained.

The Pastel SDK must be used within an ActiveX compliant programming environment. Typical examples of such programming environments are the latest versions of Microsoft C++, Clarion, Delphi, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visual Basic. A practical programming knowledge of these development languages is a pre-requisite when using the SDK.

The Pastel SDK is compliant with Pastel Accounting 2004 through to 2007.

The 3rd Party Developer Relationship

The Pastel SDK is available through a 12-month licence subscription purchased from Pastel. This subscription is subject to your acceptance of the Pastel Developer's Licence Agreement and entitles you to the following benefits during the period of subscription:   

• The right to distribute the Pastel SDK as part of your application without further run-time royalties.
• Free Pastel SDK updates, including feature enhancements when available. (Subject to the subscription being current)
• Electronic documentation for the Pastel SDK.
• Support of the Pastel SDK via e-mail only.
• Notification of pending changes to the Pastel product and/or SDK.

The following services are not covered by your subscription fee. 

• Tutoring in programming principles 
• Telephone support 
• One-on-one consulting on Pastel development related issues

How to Purchase an SDK Licence

The SDK Licence is sold on an annual subscription basis. To purchase an SDK Licence, please complete the following steps:

2. Fax your completed SDK Order Form to 0845 456 3103 or e-mail it to info@pastel.co.uk
3. If you have an account with Pastel, and you have terms, your account will be debited with the SDK Licence fee and you will receive an invoice in the mail. If you do not have terms with Pastel, you will be contacted to discuss your preferred method of payment.

5. Once your order has been processed you will receive your Licence String and Authorisation code via e-mail.
   These codes unlock the SDK functionality and allow you to develop applications with the SDK.
